Can you send multiple photos at once on WhatsApp?

Yes, WhatsApp allows you to send multiple photos at once in a chat or group conversation. There are a couple of different ways to send multiple photos at the same time on WhatsApp for both iPhone and Android devices.

Sending Multiple Photos on iPhone

Here are the steps to send multiple photos at once using an iPhone:

  1. Open the WhatsApp app and go to the chat or group you want to send the photos to.
  2. Tap the + icon in the bottom left corner to access your photos.
  3. Tap “Select” at the top right corner.
  4. Select all the photos you want to send by tapping on them. A blue check will appear on each photo you select.
  5. Once you’ve selected all the photos, tap the up arrow icon in the bottom right corner.
  6. This will bring up a preview of all the selected photos. Tap “Send X Items” at the bottom where X is the number of photos selected.

All the selected photos will now be sent in one message bubble in the chat. You can select and send up to 30 photos at once using this method.

Sending Multiple Photos on Android

Here is how to send multiple photos at the same time on Android:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to the desired chat or group.
  2. Tap the Attachment icon (paperclip symbol).
  3. Tap “Gallery”. This will open your phone’s gallery.
  4. Tap and hold on the first photo you want to send. A blue check will appear on it.
  5. Tap on all the other photos you want to send. A blue check will be added to each one.
  6. Once you’ve selected all your photos, tap the Forward arrow in the bottom right.
  7. This will bring up a preview of the selected photos. Tap “Send” at the bottom right.

The photos will now be sent together in the chat. You can pick up to 10 photos to send at once with this method on Android.

Sending Photos from Albums

In addition to selecting photos from your full camera gallery, you can also send multiple photos directly from specific albums on both iPhone and Android.

To do this:

  1. Open the WhatsApp gallery and tap “Albums” at the bottom.
  2. Tap on the album you want to select photos from.
  3. Tap and hold the first photo then tap other photos. A check will appear.
  4. Tap the Forward arrow and then “Send”.

This will send all the chosen photos together from that album. This provides an easy way to send multiple photos from trips, events, or other organized albums.

Sending Photos Already on Your Device

If you already have photos previously saved on your device, you can also send multiple of these photos together in WhatsApp:

  1. From the WhatsApp chat, tap the Attachment icon then “Document”.
  2. Tap on “Internal Storage” or “SD Card”.
  3. Navigate to the folder or location where your photos are saved.
  4. Tap and hold the first photo, then tap any others you want.
  5. Tap the Forward icon then “Send”.

This lets you pick photos that aren’t in your camera gallery and send multiples together. Useful for sharing older photos or screenshots.

Sending Photos from Third-Party Apps

Some other apps also allow selecting and sending multiple photos. For example:

  • In the Facebook app, select photos then choose WhatsApp to share them.
  • In the Google Photos app, select photos then tap the Share button and choose WhatsApp.
  • In the Instagram app, tap the Share button under a post with multiple photos and select WhatsApp.

When shared to WhatsApp this way, all selected photos will be sent together in one message.

Group Size Limitations

There are some limits on how many photos you can send together based on if you are in a regular chat vs. a group:

Chat Type Maximum Photos
Individual Chat 30 photos on iPhone
10 photos on Android
Group Chat 10 photos

Trying to exceed those limits will result in multiple message bubbles being created.

Media Upload Settings

There are also some WhatsApp settings that control how media uploads work:

  • Auto-download – Automatically saves received photos/videos to your device’s gallery.
  • Visibility of media – Sets who can see new media if Auto-download is off.
  • Data usage for media uploads – Allows higher quality uploads on WiFi vs. cellular data.

So the experience of sending/receiving multiple photos may also depend on how each user has configured these settings.

Conclusion

WhatsApp provides flexible options to select and send multiple photos at the same time on both iPhones and Android phones. Up to 30 photos can be sent together in individual chats, while groups are limited to 10 photos per message. The exact process differs slightly between operating systems but the end result is the same. With the ability to access your camera gallery, albums, device storage, and other apps, WhatsApp makes it easy to share multiple photos at once.
