In a meeting of fashion minds, Elizabeth and Glenn’s romance blossomed amidst fabric swatches and design drafts. Glenn had recently launched his own label, while Elizabeth worked as a textile supplier, frequently interacting with her future partner. As he visited her office to source materials, their connection grew stronger. ‘He’d come in for fabrics, and that’s where our story began,’ Elizabeth reminisces.

The couple soon collaborated on projects, spending countless hours together without ever feeling drained of each other’s company. It was only natural then that they realized they had found something truly special.

The couple’s proposal story is just as romantic as it gets. Glenn planned a surprise weekend getaway that culminated in a breathtaking moment: a helicopter ride to a private island, where he popped the question on the picturesque pier. As Elizabeth recalls, ‘We took off in a helicopter and landed on Elizabeth Island.’ With the stunning scenery behind them, Glenn got down on one knee and Elizabeth, naturally, said yes!

In perfect harmony, Elizabeth’s bridesmaids shone in their stunning white floor-length gowns from Elle Zeitoune. The strapless origami-inspired bodices added a touch of whimsy to the classic, sophisticated silhouette, which was further elevated by elegant leg splits and flowing trains. The overall aesthetic was polished off with emerald drop earrings and delicate white rose bouquets that added a romantic touch to their ensembles.

Elizabeth’s wedding gown was a masterclass in timeless elegance, drawing inspiration from the iconic styles of Grace Kelly and her own childhood memories of her Aunt Helen’s bridal gown. To bring this vision to life, Elizabeth partnered with Josephine from Romeo Bastone Couture to craft a custom design. The result was a stunning long-sleeve form-fitting gown featuring sheer sleeves adorned with intricate silk floral appliqué.

This classic look was elevated by the presence of a full tulle overskirt and a show-stopping cathedral train, made possible by over 110 meters of flowing tulle. The end result was a true celebration of glamour, taking elegance to new heights.

Elizabeth arrived at the Scots’ Church in Melbourne’s CBD with her father, making a stylish entrance in an vintage Cadillac. As they cruised to the venue, she indulged in Elvis tunes, setting the tone for a memorable day. The special moments were beautifully captured by APL Photography, who won over the couple with their ability to freeze love and glamour in frame. ‘APL did an exceptional job of encapsulating the atmosphere and emotions of our big day,’ Elizabeth reflects fondly.

As the romantic ceremony came to a close, guests were whisked away to the Roaring Twenties by an opulent old-world glamour reception held within the majestic La Trobe Reading Room at the State Library of Victoria. Elizabeth notes that the venue’s grandeur and elegance perfectly captured the couple’s vision, making it an unforgettable experience for all involved.

As a trailblazing event in every sense, this was actually the first wedding reception ever held at the esteemed location, allowing the couple to put their unique stamp on every detail and make the evening truly one-of-a-kind.

In the reception venue, a sophisticated colour scheme featuring classic white and gold tones was set against an art deco backdrop. Table settings were meticulously designed to exude elegance, with crystal glassware, subtle gold accents, and pure white floral arrangements combining to create a visually stunning atmosphere.

Every detail was carefully considered in the decor, from the ivory menu cards adorned with gold foil art deco motifs to the perfectly complementary wedding favours: elegant book tokens featuring quotes from classic literature, including F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby and Tales Of The Jazz Age.

The cake perfectly complemented the evening’s art deco theme, boasting a gold fan pattern, ivory-toned appliqué, pearls, and florals that added a touch of elegance to the proceedings. When it came to flavor, Elizabeth reveals they opted for a simple yet crowd-pleasing lemon buttercream white chocolate mud cake that was a huge hit with their guests.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the evening was transformed into an immersive experience, perfectly capturing the essence of a bygone era. A live jazz band transported guests back to the Roaring Twenties with their soulful renditions, while a harpist’s enchanting melodies echoed through the air, paying homage to Lana Del Rey’s hauntingly beautiful Young And Beautiful from Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.

Meanwhile, a DJ spun an irresistible mix of 1970s disco and 1980s club classics, ensuring Elizabeth and Glenn’s wedding reception was truly the stuff of legend, a night that would be remembered for years to come as the party of the decade.
