Whatsapp status not loading on wifi?

If your WhatsApp status is not loading when you are connected to WiFi, there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot and fix the issue. The most common reasons for WhatsApp status not loading on WiFi include network or connectivity problems, outdated app version, phone software issues, and app configuration problems. With some troubleshooting steps, you should be able to get your WhatsApp status working properly on WiFi again.

Check your internet connection

The first thing to check is whether your internet connection is working properly. Open a web browser or any other app that requires internet and see if you are able to load webpages or use the app functions. If other apps are not working as well, then the problem is likely with your WiFi connection rather than WhatsApp specifically.

Troubleshoot your WiFi by disconnecting and reconnecting to the network, restarting your router if possible, checking for internet outages with your ISP, or trying a different WiFi network. Using mobile data can also help determine if the issue is with your WiFi. If WhatsApp starts working normally via mobile data, then there is likely an issue with your WiFi network.

Update WhatsApp to the latest version

An outdated version of WhatsApp can also cause problems with status not loading properly. Go to your app store, search for WhatsApp, and check that you have the latest version installed. If not, update to the newest version and test if your status works.

WhatsApp frequently releases new versions with bug fixes and performance improvements. Updating ensures compatibility with WhatsApp’s servers as well as fixes any bugs that may be affecting the status feature.

Force stop and clear cache/data

Small errors or inconsistencies in WhatsApp can sometimes be fixed by force stopping the app and clearing cached data. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp. Tap Force Stop, then tap Storage > Clear Cache and Clear Data. Open WhatsApp again and check if status now loads.

On iPhone, swipe up to close WhatsApp from the app switcher. Then go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, select WhatsApp and tap Offload App. Reinstall WhatsApp from the App Store and test status.

Check date and time settings

Make sure the date and time on your phone are set correctly. An incorrect date/time can disrupt connectivity with WhatsApp’s servers. Go to your phone’s Settings > Date & Time and turn on Automatic date & time if it’s disabled. If on manual mode, double check that the date and time are accurate.

Toggle airplane mode

Toggling airplane mode off and on can force your device to re-establish network connectivity which may resolve any WhatsApp issues. Open Settings and turn on Airplane mode for 30 seconds. Then turn Airplane mode off, wait for network to reconnect, and test if WhatsApp status now loads.

Disable battery optimization

On some Android devices, battery optimization settings can interfere with WhatsApp’s background data connectivity. Go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Battery > Battery optimization and set to Don’t optimize or All apps. This allows WhatsApp unrestricted data usage which may fix status not loading.

Re-register WhatsApp number

As a last resort, you can try re-registering your phone number with WhatsApp. This will delete your WhatsApp data but can eliminate any corrupted files or configuration issues. On WhatsApp go to Settings > Account > Delete My Account. Confirm deletion. Reinstall WhatsApp, verify your number, and set up your account again. Your contacts will remain, just re-create your status.

WhatsApp Web/Desktop

If your WhatsApp status is not loading on your phone’s WiFi but working normally on mobile data, try viewing status through WhatsApp Web/Desktop to further isolate the issue. Open web.whatsapp.com on your computer’s browser, scan the QR code with your phone to link accounts.

If status loads normally on WhatsApp Web, then the problem is limited to your phone’s WiFi connection. You can continue troubleshooting the phone’s WiFi. But if status does not load on WhatsApp Web as well, then your account/number may be having issues.

Contact WhatsApp support

If none of the above fixes your WhatsApp status loading problem on WiFi, then try contacting WhatsApp directly for help. In WhatsApp, go to Settings > Help > Contact Us. Explain the issue and steps you’ve tried. WhatsApp can investigate and provide specialized troubleshooting suited to your situation.

Use WhatsApp Less on WiFi

If the problem persists only on WiFi, consider using WhatsApp less when connected to WiFi as a temporary workaround. Only check statuses and send messages on mobile data, avoiding WiFi usage until a fix is determined. This will ensure you can continue using WhatsApp normally.

Summary

WhatsApp status not loading on WiFi can be frustrating, but the problem can usually be resolved with some focused troubleshooting. Check your WiFi connection, app version, date/time settings, and try rebooting your phone. Also attempt re-registering your WhatsApp number or contacting support if needed. With some diligence, you should be able to get your WhatsApp status working properly on WiFi again.
